    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
I installed this unit in a 2003 GMS Sonoma. Double DIN fit very well, small modification required due to depth of unit. Overall I would rate this unit an 9 out of 10.

    PROS

Rotary volume control, in my opinion much easier to use over push buttons (either hardware or on screen software buttons)
The GPS button will toggle between the active audio source and the GPS software–Nice
    Radio function and graphic excellent
Sound equalization and tone controls excellent
iPod function and graphic very good
CD function-nothing special, it just works
DVD function-again nothing special, it just works–excellent picture
AUX-IN–I use the rear audio AUX-IN to listen to an external satellite radio receiver. This function works well
Bluetooth function-phone book transfers to unit, accepts calls from any audio/navigation mode, switches to Bluetooth function for call then returns to previous mode. Bluetooth music function works well, with play, next, previous and pause supported. No display of file/song name. Overall rating very good
Rear Camera-I added a license plate mounted rear view camera which functions very well with this unit–excellent
GPS Navigation–Over all I give this function a very good to excellent. I have the external GPS antenna mounted on top of the dash (antenna cable not long enough to route to the outside the truck). USA maps appear to reasonably up to date. Navigation routing–average. I have seen better routes and most certainly have seen worse. Over all pleased with the GPS function.

    CONS

USB/SD MP3 audio function-this is a letdown. Sound is good, but graphic and file navigation leave a lot to be desired. Unit does not properly display long file names which makes navigation difficult. I give this function a mediocre rating
USB/SD Video function. Very poor. I have yet to find a file format that the unit can read.
Front AUX-IN too close to the volume control as is the front USB input
Boot time. From the time power is applied, it takes about 6 seconds for this unit to boot to the last audio input (radio, AUX-IN, etc.) active before previous power-off. Then it takes another 10 seconds for the GPS software to boot.

Considering price/performance of this unit, I would purchase again for second vehicle and would recommend it to a friend.

great value, underrated, October 24, 2012

got this for my 2011 dodge nitro, after reading lots of reviews and looking at all the similar products on ebay and whatnot. Fit perfect in this vehicle with purchase of wire harness adapter for my vehicle. every function that i have worked great as soon as i fired up the unit. Dont have the rear camera, or steering wheel controls on this vehicle, so thats not hooked up. Unit looks nice and clean and like it is a factory unit. The sound quality and volume is awesome for the price. Lots of power. will be huge improvement over a factory non-amplified system. In fact i recently replaced a factory ford system in a 2004 lightning with a Kenwood DPX 308U which is a well known high end brand, and i was very impressed with that one, BUT this Boss unit has just as much power and quality, if not more, as the Kenwood. Dvd works great, great resolution, and very quick to read discs. Navagation/GPS worked awsome although i havent used all of its capabilities, but it is pretty quick to load and start, and pretty simple to use. Takes a little time to learn all of its functions on the gps, but no more than a garmin or tomtom. Great signal reception so far too on gps. Overall pretty simple to use the menu options and set up unit, touch screen is awsome. blue tooth phone easy to set up and worked great. Overall it is GREAT unit. Dont know about longevity of it because ive only had for a few days, but seems like well made unit. Just like everything else- if you take care of it, it will last…. Only complaint i found with it is that it does not have much EQ options and adjustments like high end brand of kenwood. It only has pop, rock, classical, and off for EQ settings and only bass, treble, loudness on/off, fade F & R, and balance L & R for audio adjustments. No midrange or individual frequency adjustments- pretty basic for unit with alot of capabilities. But still has awsome quality, clarity and LOTS OF POWER. Cant go wrong- right in middle of the cheapo no-name chinese junk and the way over-priced high end brands with same functions. Very happy.

    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
I bought this deck for my 2007 impala about a month ago and gotta say it gets the job done. I intended on just making my car a bit schnazzier, but once a month passed it left e wanting more. I gave it 3 stars because of the format(looks). But for price id give it a 4 maybe 4.5.

    *Pro’s*
    -Great dvd picture quality
    -Sounds pretty good
    -Decent price
    -SD card slot
    -Volume knob
    -Good Menu display
    -Decent SD card display
    -Decent Blue tooth display
    -Good Radio Display
-Alot of settings to choose from(brightness, contrast, bass, treble, sharpness, etc.)
-Aux. port works However screen remains blue, but if you go back to menu it remains playing.
    -potential for rearview camera
    -Looks pretty good in car

    *Cons*
    -Ipod didn’t work through USB.
    -No GPS potential
-no screen when auxilary cable is plugged in.
-I dont seem to be getting as much bass as with my stock stereo.
-I’m not sure how to change the screen, but I think there is a way
-CD background looks cheesy.(It Says Boss)kinda annoying.

    *Conclusion*
Would I have bought it knowing its features? Yes I would and for 185 bucks it’s a pretty good deal. But now that i have experienced a touch screen I want to upgrade however I love my car and upgrading is my choice. I have enjoyed and enjoying it. I hope this review helped your decision.

A worthy budget dash cam, January 10, 2014

This review is from: Black Box G1W Original Dashboard Dash Cam – Full HD 1080P H.264 2.7″ LCD Car DVR Camera Video Recorder with G-Sensor Night Vision Motion Detection WDR 140° Wide Angle 4X Zoom – NT96650 + AR0330 (Electronics)
I bought this as a secondary dash cam for testing purposes. It is currently mounted to the rear of my wagon, while another brand camera is in the front.

Size: it is small enough to be hidden in front your rear view mirror if mounted in front.

Video quality: 1080p quality is ridiculously good, but the trade off is that your viewing angle is reduced and the file sizes are huge.
I stick with 720p at 30fps for the 120 degree viewing angle. It is more than good enough to identify license plates – and make a few YouTube videos of errant drivers.
At night the quality is reduced, but I can still make out license plates of vehicles behind me with their uber bright HID lights.

Suction cup: I had to try it a few times well before it would finally stay attached. I was ready with mounting tape as a permafix.

Do Note: This can double duty as a normal photograph camera and even as a webcam for your PC.

If you are looking for a first dash cam, then get this. Make sure to buy 32Gb MicroSDHC card for it.That will give you 8 -9 hours recording time (720p) before overwriting old files.

After reading the reviews about the good picture quality and seeing example videos on YouTube, I purchased it. I was a bit hesitant because of the reviews about the bad instructions, but another reviewer Herb Harbison was able to update the shaky Chinese instructions. There is a link in his review or you can get it here […]

I did make one mistake that I want to share. After fooling around with the settings I thought the quickest way to get back to the original settings was to select the “Restore Factory Default” menu item. Um, don’t do that. It will also restore the menus to Cyrillic (Russian) language. It took me about an hour to figure out which was the menu item to display English.

The video is excellent. I was able to catch a video of Bigfoot crossing the road while driving through a back roads in Ohio, but I accidentally deleted it. You can select between 720 or 1080. The 720 was very good plus will give you about 9 hours of video on a 32gb card. You can find some examples of the video quality on YouTube that people have posted. So far so good. If anything changes, I will update.

    ******Update 2/15 *****

Started getting memory errors soon after use, and also didn’t notice the camera was stopping its recording. Thinking it was the brand new Sandisk class 10 memory card, I exchanged and got another. Still memory errors and corrupted files with the replacement. I email Baiklov about the issue, and they responded within 24 hours specifically stating to use a class 4 or 6 card . I started using a class 4 without and not have had any memory issues or corrupt files.

    **** Updated 2/16 *****

I replied to Baiklov thanking them for their quick response to the memory errors my camera was having and it has been resolved. I even suggested that they update the product description for the camera to state the user buy class 4 or 6 microSD card and they did! They sent back a nice email thanking me for my input. Now that is a great customer service! I upgraded from 4 to 5 stars for their excellent customer service, and great product.

Best value dashcam with 1080p, December 2, 2013
    Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Black Box G1W Original Dashboard Dash Cam – Full HD 1080P H.264 2.7″ LCD Car DVR Camera Video Recorder with G-Sensor Night Vision Motion Detection WDR 140° Wide Angle 4X Zoom – NT96650 + AR0330 (Electronics)
Small and compact dashcam that disappears completely behind my rearview mirror. It records to MicroSD media and is currently the top value as recommended by Dashcamtalk forum. The power adapter cord was adequate for me to hide along the headliner down the door seal and into the cigarette lighther socket. It comes on automatically when the car comes on and makes a sound when doing so, this is helpful because since I can’t see the unit it’s good to know it turned on. A previous dashcam I had would not power on reliably so this gives me the peace of mind that my drive is being recorded as intended. This camera features a true 120 degree field of view, in layman’s terms that means it sees just about a wide view as your eyes do. In practical terms, in the unfortunate event another car cuts you off and causes you to hit them from behind, chances are the wide field of view will help your cause tremendously in proving your case. I hope I’ll never have to test that theory, but the case stands that you want true 120 degree visibility in a dashcam. I’ve set it up to cycle record in 10 min blocks so the memory card will just fill itself up and delete the oldest file. With a 16gb card in there I should be able to retrieve any footage I need before it’s overwritten. The unit is light and so far it has stuck onto the windshield for at least 3 weeks with no issues. 1080p video quality means that under optimal daytime conditions you can actually read license plates from the footage but because of the wide angle of view you would have to be pretty close to the car in front of you. It’s too bad Amazon doesn’t carry this camera directly since the overseas shipping took quite some time to get here
