GOOD QUALITY PLUG- READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE ORDERING,
First, I want to let everyone know about a current AC Delco Rebate Promotion good for the entire 2014 year. Rebates range from .50 to 2.00/plug depending on plug purchased. I have not sent my rebate in yet but don’t see why a purchase form Amazon would not be honored. If I have any problems with the rebate I will update this review. Google «delco spark plug rebate 2014» for the rebate form.
Second I want to address some of the confusion out there about the 41-962 Platinum vs. 41-110 Iridium Plug. If you google «41-962 vs 41-110» the first thing that comes up is AC/Delco Service Bulletin 13D-070. This bulletin clearly states that as of 5/2013 the 41-962 is the correct plug to be used in 2006 and older as well as some 2007 plug applications.
Without the facts to support this theory I am guessing this means GM 5.3L engines WITHOUT VVT and/or Active Fuel Management which would pretty closely match that model year split so maybe it has something to do with that, I really don’t know what the real reason is they changed the plug recommendation. Some people on the web suggest this change was made because the Platinums are cheaper than Iridiums and this will somehow sell more plugs? They are like 60 cents cheaper each so I am not sure I believe that. I suspect they just found this was a better plug for the application.
Also, I had the GM Dealer run my VIN and they also show the correct plug to be 41-962
This is not to say that 41-110 Iridiums will not work in your 2006-down 5.3L engine but according to the people that make these plugs, 41-962 is the correct plug to be using now. In fact 41-110 was PREVIOUSLY the replacement for the original plugs that were in my truck (can’t remember that p/n). In fact, I ran 41-110 from my first plug change at 120K up to about 244K with no problems. There have been reports on the web about people loosing fuel mileage with the 41-110. I am really not sure if I did or not.
Anyway, I just wanted to clear the air about what is truly the correct plug for the 2006-down 5.3L engines based on AC/Delco’s Service Bulletin.
Hope this helps!
