Oil that lubricates and cools the engine is picked up by the engine's oil pump, cleaned by the oil filter, and reused. It is vital that any dirt or contamination picked up by the circulating oil be removed before it is pumped back into the engine. The FRAM Ultra Oil Filter is designed to keep your engine clean under the most extreme of conditions. The Ultra is like no other Fram, January 3, 2013

Don’t confuse this filter with any other Fram. Its called the FRAM ULTRA, the product description is incorrect. Uses the «XG» part number convention but is NOT the same as the Xtended Guard. Way better. Has a different media for a filtering efficiency of 99% @20 microns and a 15k dirt trapping capacity. I use it twice for a total of 12k miles. No dry starts, nice clean oil.

After years of using Fram for my cars, I’m very satisfied about their efficacy and reliability. Apparently, so does Honda which commissions Fram to make their oil filters for the U.S. market. The nonslip grip enhances installation and removal. The rubber gasket is of superior quality. Although this specific filter is for my Honda Civis Si, my 1991 Toyota Previa is going strong on its original (and never rebuilt) engine using exclusively Fram filters.

I use these on my 2012 Subaru Impreza 2.0i. These are nothing like other filters produced by Fram so don’t mind the spammers below. These are highly regarded as some of the best filters on the market at this time. They are 99.9% efficient at 20 microns and are supposed to last for 15K miles. These filters are better than the Mobil1 Oil Filters(99.9% efficient at 25 microns is still not bad either) and are slightly cheaper.
