These WILL NOT dissappoint,
They arrived quickly, as you would expect from amazon. I immediately got to work boring out an area for them, since my car previously had 6.5’s in the back. After that, I had to wait for some time to get money for a deck, since the one I just had blew up in a cloud of smoke.
Now, for the past month, I’ve had them hooked up with a Pioneer TS-W303R 12″ 4-Ohm Subwoofer hooked up as my sub. I’m running them through a simply ancient Kenwood KAC-846 from the 90’s with a blown channel. It’s running a sub on a low pass crossover bridged on one pair of inputs and these shoved into the non blown channel on the other. And the verdict?
Simply Staggering!!!! I never knew such perfect headphone-quality sound was possible in a car. I have made several people storm off because there $1000+ dollar systems get blown away by these babies. Nearest to perfect sound that you can get in car audio.
The tweeters are crisp, clear and concise, the mids are perfect with voices coming out well above everything else and the lows…….I never knew such bass could come out of one small pair of 6x9s. I even have a friend who is a professional audio sales person come by and listen to them and he nearly lost his jaw in amazement because of the clear sound these things produce. They are nearly studio monitor sound with a proper tune, and thats a really rare thing in car audio.
Cons? Well, i do wish it had push terminal inputs instead of ones you have to solder the cables on.
All in all, i would buy several more pairs of these and have been recommending them left and right. Buy them, you will not regret it.

Honestly one of the best I’ve heard,
I took a flyer on these due to price and reviews. My Tacoma takes 6×9’s up front so I decided I’d try these. I like my tweeters soft so I decided not to use tweets in the upper door location and just go with a coax. I’m a fan of one point imaging and in a relatively noisy truck tweets up high overpower the mids in the door, which causes me listener fatigue.
Each speaker’s getting 50 watts of clean Alpine amp power, and I set the attenuation to -6dB. For the 1st time in my life a set of speakers actually needed more highs. So I set the switch on normal and was surprised that I preferred it that way. I’d imagine a rear deck application would probably need the attenuation but up front they didn’t.
Bottom line:
Pros: Very well balanced sound.
Impressive bass output (typical of most 6×9’s I’ve heard). Grade A-Minus
Strong mid-range. Better than almost any 6×9 I’ve ever heard. Grade A-Plus
Good but not great highs. Very pleasing sound though. The super tweeter is occasionally hissy on S’s, but certainly not worth downgrading much. Grade B
Cons: If I had to nit-pick, I’d say the upper mid-range is a tad bright. I have a mid EQ on my head unit set at -2 db @ 2,500hz and that cures it perfectly.
This is my 3rd set of JBL speakers. I’m now a big fan. Their GTO 6-1/2 coax and separates are also great sounding sets as well. You’d likely have to spend around $500 to get noticeably better sound.

Wow, These are rich, deep, clean and bassy speakers. 65$ is an absolute bargain.,
If you don’t listen to Drake and jay-z or any deep deep bass artists, you don’t need a sub at all. These have sufficient bass while amplified, super crisp highs and surprisingly rich mids. I’d pay 150$ for these and be happy.
Pros
JBL’s 6 x 9 is the best sounding car speaker I have reviewed.
Cons
The frequency response range could use a small improvement,a little more mids, and not louder but deeper lows. .
The Verdict: 9.75/10 Excellent sound quality, sensitivity and power handling make the JBL GTO938s the most impressive car speakers I reviewed. These blow me away.
( I work at a audio install place and test/ rate/price our speakers. I consider myself a bass loving audiophile.
