   Perfect for my Subaru. Make no mistake, K & N filters are top notch, but beware of people who claim huge improvements in mileage and power (i.e. 10-15%). With the billions of dollars the auto industry has spent trying to improve gas mileage and power, every car made in the world would have these as original equipment if such gains were possible. If life were only so simple. People who replace a CLOGGED filter with a new one will notice an improvement, no matter what NEW CLEAN filter they use. If it’s clogged badly enough, the improvement might be that your car runs now). But K & N is definitely better than most in fit and quality, plus being reusable, but a magic bullet it is not. A clogged K & N filter will also cause performance problems, it’s just that all you have to do is clean it properly, and you are off and running; whereas with a paper filter, you have to throw it out. Worth the money, especially at 25-30 bucks.

   First and foremost, I’m not a car buff. I have bought a K&N filter for all of my vehicles and so I did with my 05 subaru outback xt. This was the correct filter and took me a little bit to get it installed. Does it improve gas mileage? According to my car’s computer computed gas mileage, it has remained on avg about the same (Maybe a .2-.3 increase). This is hard to measure as it could be a number of different things. Does it increase performance, I can honestly say that it does feel like it breathes better and it also feels like it has a bit more pull from the low end. Is this in my head? Probably but then again, I don’t have to keep buying cheap filters from the oil change places or the dealer. I’ve been happy with k&n parts and will continue to buy them even if its just a feeling.

   Product was exactly as advertised and Amazon Prime is the main reason I shop Amazon. I love it! Keep up the good work.

   There is a common misconception that huge gains are produced with K&N filters. There are far too many factors such as stock intake design and engine wear that will contribute to the overall performance. I have bought many K&N filters in the past for multiple cars and have had very consistent results, none of which were poor. In some cars, I did notice small torque increase (particularly turbo vehicles) but it’s so minimal that it can be disregarded as «mental.» You most likely WILL NOT gain 10% – 15% HP and in my opinion, that is not the purpose of this product. One thing I can guarantee is that you will never have to buy another filter for your car again (granted you maintain it properly). If you replace your stock air filter routinely as suggested by all car manufacturers, you will save money by not having to buy those $15 paper filters every few months. The performance of the filter comes into play when it is cleaned. Since your not paying $15 each time for a new filter, you can clean it as often as you wish for about $1 and are therefore driving around with a «new» filter all the time.

   I would recommend this filter to anyone who does not want to throw money away on paper filters and does not want to void their warranty with an aftermarket cold air or short ram intake. This product is NOT a waste of money and it best viewed as a conservative investment in a vehicle you would like to keep for a while.
