Mann-Filter CUK 2939 Cabin Filter With Activated Charcoal for select Audi/ Volkswagen models
  • Filters out pollen, spores, dust and harmful gases
  • Optimum ventilation inside the vehicle through low flow resistance
  • Consistent filtration performance throughout the entire service interval
  • Exact fit and seal
  • Greatest filtration efficiency through a combination of mechanical and electrostatic attraction
Like a sponge, the activated charcoal layer embedded in the non-woven material absorbs harmful gases such as nitrogen dioxide, fuels and ozone into pores which are 10,000 times finer than a human hair. That is how the combi-filter ensures a healthy cabin environment. This modern filter consists of a non-woven-based particle filter media, an activated charcoal layer and a carrier media to improve stability

This Mann cabin filter is exactly the same as the OEM one found in all applicable later 2010+ model Volkswagen vehicles. The manufacturer is the same and the materials are the same. Please don’t be confused by some reviews regarding stronger frames or foam materials. Previous years may have had slightly different materials.

Installation takes only 10 minutes or less and requires no tools. Do not pay your dealer for this. Manufacturer recommended service interval is every 20,000 miles. For what it costs, I’d recommend yearly changes.

    Step 1:

Unscrew the two plastic thumb screws located underneath your passenger side foot well area (directly below glove box).

    Step 2:

With the screws removed, peel back the carpeting. It is only held in place by the surrounding plastic panels. For greater ease, remove the carpet panel completely. Do not worry it. Putting it back is easy.

    Step 3:

You should be able to see a rectangular plastic box towards the back. The cover slides to the right to open. Push firmly to the right. Once it is fully pushed to the right, gently pull down on the cover to remove.

    Step 4:

Pull down the old filter gently. Take note of the orientation of the old filter. There will be some leaves and debris, so make sure to cover your face and eyes. Clean the area.

    Step 5:

Place the new filter in gently in the same direction as the old one you pulled out. The frame is paper, so it is bendable. As long as you don’t manhandle it, it should be fine.

    Step 6:

The filter bottom has slots where the cover latches go. Push it up and slide to the left to lock. Replace the carpet and the thumb screws.

    Step 7:

Buy yourself a 6 pack and a tank of gas with the money you’ve saved.

The install for this in a 2007 VW GTI was simple. Under the glove-box on the passenger side is where you have to remove the foam padding to get to the plastic cover that holds this in place. This package will come with the instructions showing pictures how to replace it. Its very easy to do and you’ll save lots of money doing it yourself rather than taking it to the dealer.

I have 59,000 miles on my 2007 VW GTI and I don’t think I’ve ever replaced this. I should of replaced it at 40k miles according to the maintenance booklet. When I replaced this I just feel like the air in the cabin is cleaner. Theres no odors and with my AC blasting a lot this summer I feel its good clean breathable air. So I recommend keeping a clean cabin filter in the car. It’s easy to do, not very expensive and often overlooked. If you want to keep a clean car and good air, why not replace it?

The price for oil filters fluctuates like mad. If you’re like me, you use K&N’s 1010 Performance filter or this. I only buy either under a tenner. If this isn’t under a tenner, be sure to check the K&N 1010!

We currently take our Civic up to 12,000 miles before an oil change, don’t worry, I started out at 6K miles and sent our oil out to have it analyzed, our mobile 1 oil looked great, so 8K miles, 10K miles, 12K miles… at 12K miles our oil reports are still coming out great.

Mobil 1 5w30 paired up with the M1-110 filter.

    Great combo.

These filters have a great review at Auto sites. I like the fact that it still uses my filter cap wrench, and I don’t have to drive to the dealer for OEM filters.

I wanted to post an update here. I paid $8.00 for these just a month ago, and now they are over $14.00. Keep an eye on the price. While they are great filters, I won’t be using them at almost double the dealers price. I will go back to the OEM filters until these go back down.
