They Look Great and Work Better.,
To those who are wondering exactly what I was wondering – these housings do have the adjustment screws attached. They even use a Phillips bit instead of a star bit for adjustment.
I bought these and installed them right away. As other reviewers stated, they do come with headlight bulbs, although none of the other bulbs are included. One of the included bulbs was DOA, but I took them out and used my Sylvania Silverstar ZXE bulbs anyway. Installation is a breeze if you’ve ever changed a headlight bulb in your Grand Am before.
-Open the hood.
-Use diagonal cutting pliers or some other method to pull out all the plastic pins in the plastic radiator cover.
-Remove the plastic radiator cover.
-Each headlight has two flat lock plates behind it that hold it in place. Pull each plate away from the headlight and up to release the headlight.
-The headlight should freely release from the car. Release all the wires/bulbs. Be careful with the housing, or you’ll end up with a big ugly scratch in your bumper like I did.
-Install the bulbs/wires to the back of the new housing. Be sure to check for burnt out auxiliary bulbs so you don’t end up with half of them being burnt out in the new housing like I did.
-Line up the three adjustment guides of the new housing. All three must fit in their guides perfectly for the light to be even close to properly adjusted.
-Push the lock plates back down to lock the headlight in place.
-Replace the plastic radiator cover.
-Replace the radiator cover plastic pins.
-Wipe fingerprints off of the new lenses.
-On level ground in front of a flat surface, in low light conditions, use a screwdriver to turn the adjustment screws and align the headlights. You’ll probably need to readjust after a few trips on dark roads.
-Close the hood.
My car looks infinitely better now. The new headlights look mean, especially with the blue Sylvania Silverstar auxiliary bulbs that I added in place of the little yellow ones. Night time vision is much, much better. These have an irregular, but very wide and flat light spread, getting much more of the side of the road than my old housings and resulting in an overall better view at night.
My only gripe is that they’re not made in the USA like my old housings were. I try to buy as much as I can American-made. There is no quality difference, however. I would actually say that the new headlights seem HIGHER quality than the American-made OEM’s, if anything.
As always, if my opinion of this product changes in the future, I will update my review. But for now, I have to give them five stars.
