Acceptable alternative to Sylvania,
Update December 2011: One of the bulbs finally burned out, but only after 21 months of daily driving. I’d say that’s a very acceptable lifespan. When I noticed the burned out bulb, I did a quick field replacement with a Sylvania bulb. Only then did I see a side-by-side comparison between the two. The Sylvania is noticeably a little brighter against a garage door, but on the road, the difference is negligible. Therefore these Phillips bulbs are, by far, the better buy.

Surprisingly effective, uniquely Philips,
These days there are a number of choices and brands, and marketplace claims too. I’ve used several with very good to excellent results including GE, Sylvania (and soon to be Philips). I was especially interested in the Philips Nightguide bulbs’ tri-color feature. First, deliberate use of the three colors in the ways Philips described (which is somewhat yellow towards the center, whitest at the center, and bluest at the outside edge) made sense to maximize visibility of the road ahead, informational signs and markers, as well as center lane markings and illumination — without dazzling other drivers. These colors matched my own eyesight comfort as well. The car for which these bulbs were intended is a Saab with single bulbs and twin filaments for both low and high beam. I wanted lots of light, knowing that those headlamps were expensive, focused, and would make the most of whatever was used.
These are the best halogens I’ve used to date. Philips the corporation has a lot of R&D knowledge about color and its applications, and these bulbs are proof of that. Since headlight bulbs seem to suddenly be a competitive area and there’s constant improvement, I can’t say that these are now the brightest, super-duper lights available. I can say these unique bulbs make all-night driving much more comfortable that other halogens I’ve used in good and bad weather.
Thanks, Philips.

Really make a difference,
I have been very pleased with the performance of these units. Unlike lesser products, they do not color coat the bulbs in a way that diminishes lighting just to achieve a color shift. Instead, they have what look like little reflectors inside to send blue / yellow to the sides.
Where I really noticed the difference was in how they really make the side of the road look much crisper. The other big plus, especially versus the silverstars, is in rain or fog where they really do excel.
While these will not turn your old headlights into HID’s, they are a good upgrade and probably the best replacement option out there. Sure, you could go with something higher wattage but that risks melting components or wires, or even creating an electrical fire.

Satisfied Enough to Keep,
The drivers side headlight assembly mounted without any trouble, once I used the turn signal socket & light from the old assembly. Like in the previous review, the passenger headlight assembly simply would not mount as shipped with the original mounting bolts. I remembered the work around from that review, removed the 3 mounting clamps from the new headlight assembly and used the mounting clamps from the old headlight assembly and it installed easily.
PROS
* Very fast shipping
* Very fast customer response
* Great price
CONS
* Would have preferred from same manufacturer (not one silver and one black assembly)
* While not explicitly stated lights and sockets included, I find it odd 1 assembly had both lights and sockets, but the other only had one light and socket. It seems to me it would have both or neither.
* You may need to change out mounting clamps with the old headlight assembly. (I had to on one but on the other)
Update 3/30/13 – The turn signal on the passenger side went out twice. Luckily I still had the old headlight assembly and I took the socket from that assembly and replaced the new socket that came with the new assembly. The turn signal has not gone out since. While these headlights do look much better than the one’s they replaced, given a «do over» I would probably not buy these again. I replaced the headlights on my Sonata a week before doing these and was much happier with those assemblies and had no issues with them whatsoever.

They are nice and shiny, but the devil is in the details,
The first problem I saw was as I was removing all the included bulbs to put dielectric grease on the contacts. One of the turn-signal bulb sockets had it’s contacts completely mangled when the bulb was installed at the factory (what quality control?). Also I observed that the contact design was VERY POOR. It was nothing like the OEM design. This was an easy fix as I just used the sockets from the original lights instead of the cheap junk that came with the new assemblies and went on my way.
Next, as other reviewers mentioned, I had to toss out the metal clips that came with these and use the ones from the factory housings because the factory bolts were not long enough to thread into the included clips.
When it came time to aim the beams, they both pointed so high that getting them aimed low enough was not within the adjustment range. This resulted in getting pulled over by the police the first night that they were installed because the low beams were in his eyes at an intersection. The second day, I pulled them back out and had to add SEVERAL (up to FIVE in some places) washers as shims, and longer bolts to accommodate the washers, in order to aim the beams reasonably well. It was a nightmare, but finally it was done…
That is until the third day when one of the brand new included head light bulbs burned out its low beam element, which was after about 90 minutes of use. I went and bought two new Sylvania bulbs and installed them to match.
The 2002 Chrysler Voyager that I installed these in has never been in an accident or had frond end work done so the fit and aiming problems can not be blamed on the vehicle. The original housings worked fine, but they were getting hazy with age from being parked outside in the sun.
If only the problem was with just one of the two housings, I would write the problems off as a defect, but since they were BOTH this way I am convinced that it is just poor design and shoddy quality.
Now I think I am finally done with what should have been a 20 minute job.. and I am also DONE with Auto and Art if they are willing to sell junk like this.

Excellent Fit and Finish!!,
Pros-Easy installation! Looks Awesome, Wife is Very Happy! Price is Great! Very affordable! Very well made!
Cons- clipped on Screw hole were difficult/ Almost seemed the old mounting screws were either to small, or not long enough, easy fix thou, just remove the old clips from the old lens housings and install them on the new housings. Once I did that, both installed in 10 Minutes! All in all, a great purchase. I would definitely purchase again!!
