   I purchased this for my home bar as a economical bar mat. The size is perfect for my setup. The smell, however, is not. I have tried everything from soaking to washing this thing in the dishwasher multiple times to reduce the smell. It literally smells like a rubber tire is sitting on my bar. You can stand 4 feet away from it and still smell it. I can’t mix proper cocktails because the tire smell affects the drink so much I cannot tell if it’s made properly.

   I will be throwing this away and purchasing something higher quality.

   I opened up the package and right away got a big whiff of rubber. It’s been about a week now and this mat has seen a lot of action- just not as part of the bar. For the first afternoon I had it sitting on the bar but I decided to move it outside as the smell was too unbearable, it actually started to give me a little bit of a headache. I soaked it in soapy water for a day, hoping that might help. Then I left it outside for a week. I just brought it in and it seems a little bit better but it is still very noxious when walking through that room.
   It was cheap and looks nice. I’d say this product is for you if you have a horrible sense of smell.

   The mat has some decent thickness and is fairly long with a square space on BOTH sides, but had a few defects with the small rubber «pegs» that glasses are supposed to stand on. The worst part, however, is horrible, noxious smell this thing constantly gives out. No amount of washing, scrubbing, and soaking will get the smell out. I even leave it on the floor of my shower every time I go in, hoping that it’ll help wash away the odors faster (it doesn’t).

   Unless someone figured out a way to successfully remove the smell, this mat is unusable anywhere near any guests because the smell is offensive to anyone within a few feet of the mat. This is an offensive bar mat.
