Make sure you know which one you need, either Super Wide Sport Cover or regular Sport Cover. I like Super Wide to fully cover the grip diameter of the steering wheel.

    When wrapping and installing:

    1. I do NOT use the included plastic wrapping wire (Cut it off and KEEP IT for step 3 below). The enclosed plastic wrapping wire wear out too quickly esp. in rapid hot and cold weather changes, and/or stretches and break during wrapping/installation.

    2. Instead, I would use USGI mil-spec parachute cords (aka USGI paracord) in the same color as cover and/or steering wheel, or your choice of color contrast.

    3. Using the included plastic wire to MEASURE how much paracord you need, I normally measure and add another 12 inch more. NOTE – Paracord has an outer layer plus 7 strands of white cord internally.

    4. Cut the paracord and use ONLY the OUTER layer. You can discard or save the 7 white, internal nylon strands for another project or whatever.

    5. Using the OUTER paracord layer, wrap according to instruction and keeping the wrapping TIGHT, around your steering wheel.

    6. Last, tie your own knots and cauterized the end of the knots with a flame lighter, and tuck them underneath the cover when done. NOTE on tying knots – I use a needle-nose plier to help pull a very tight knots before cauterizing the end and tucking it underneath the grip cover.

Great product and enhances your grip comfort, to prevent fatigue for those of us that drives often and for long distance trips. Works as advertised and great for all seasons.

Should last avg. of 5yrs or longer with normal use. Those with rough/calloused hand or very physical daily work of getting in and out of vehicle often, will notice grip cover lifespan to be about 2-3 years before replacement.

Lifespan on this cover to me is when the texturing of the cover becomes smooth, on the area you place your hand when driving. I get extended use on mine though b/c when the area I normally grip on steering wheel would be smooth, I would untie the paracord wrapping and rotate the grip cover so the next textured area is where I normally grip the steering wheel.

I have used this grip cover on every vehicle I’ve owned for past 16 years. Of course, I will color-match to the steering wheel color.

Don’t know why these are becoming much harder to find in this higher quality brand called Superior (textured surface) – instead of the fake imitation (non-textured and quality is horrible) that are showing up all over auto parts store.

Edit to add – I’ve used this product since 1995, 8 vehicles total, and as of 10/04/2012 – the original one installed on March 2007 is still on my vehicle (a 2005 Toyota Highlander).

I am not affiliated nor paid by Amazon or any business for this review, lol. ;P – Just trying to help those looking for a decent grip cover.

Edit to correct some minor grammatical errors, 😉

I ordered one, foolishly not noticing that no sizing information is available on the Amazon site; it didn’t fit. I measured the wheel of my ’08 Prius and concluded that I needed not the size «B,» which seems to be the default size that is sent (apparently Superior has not updated its products since 1965)–but the wider «Super Wide Sport Grip.» Just to be sure, I called the Superior company in Arkansas, which, while advertising their product line on their own website, tells me that they do not sell directly and that their products are not available on Amazon, which is, of course, ridiculous, as the unusable size «B» came through Amazon just a few days before. Superior also could not tell me anywhere their products are available–bad sign when a business seems uninterested in marketing its own products. Anyway, hanging up wondering how the company remains in business, I take a chance and order the «Super Wide Sport Grip» on Amazon, which Superior advertises as being 4″ in width and so just right for my car according to the sizing chart on its boxes and website. Another ten bucks–what arrives is not a «Super Wide Sport Grip» but the «Sport Grip,» size «C» (perhaps they are the same thing, but the completely different box only adds to the disaster of the marketing of this lousy product). NOT BIG ENOUGH–and Saran wrap is stronger– deciding I’d try to get it on the wheel thinking I’d live with the gap–it easily tore. I threw both of the pieces of junk away. If my waste of $20 can save you the aggravation, I’ll have done my good deed for the day by writing this review.

The item I ordered shares the same Superior Item number with several other steering wheel covers. It was impossible to choose the proper grip. In the Sport Grip there are three different width sizes: «A», «B», and «C». None of the item descriptions listed the width sizes so it was hard to choose – as a result I ordered the wrong item. It did not make any difference anyway, I received a «C», which was too wide for my steering wheel – but it broke apart anyway when I attempted to install it. I have used these covers for years, but I cannot buy locally any more, but without better item descriptions, and no customer service to call for help, I will not try again.
