A Worthwhile Dashcam At A Reasonable Price,
My impression thus far is that all three aforesaid criteria have been satisfied. I will not go into a detailed breakdown of the DrivePro because I feel one can search out Techmoan on the internet; he gives a detailed analysis of features, video/sound quality, etc. My only disagreement with Techmoan is with the recorded sound quality – I’m ok with it. It is able to pick up the indicator/turn-signals had been engaged (click, click, click). So should there be an event whereby proof of having used one’s indicators is required…
In summary, I cannot at this time speak to the longevity of the product as I have only had it for two days (received 2014 08 11). It doesn’t come with a storage bag and that maybe something to consider purchasing to protect it when/if removed from stand.
UPDATE (20 October 2014):
The camera is in use whenever the vehicle is being driven. Camera continues to behave as previously mentioned…no problems there. One issue though – the stand that ships with the camera is flimsy. It’s a ball and socket stand that I have glued to interior of front windshield. The ball and socket has become loose – the camera can move around with the slightest of nudges even though one has tightened the ball-socket connection. Eventually one will have to replace the stand with something much more sturdy…an additional cost this customer wasn’t expecting.

A Decent Dashcam,
Pros:
* Ease of setup/use
* Built-in WiFi
* Relatively small size compared to other dashcams
* Comes with Micro SD card
Cons:
* Lack of a suction cup mount (They could easily do away with the adhesive mount and the RCA adapter to cut costs)
* Poor choice of a USB cable: Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the fact that they included a super long USB cable with it, but it’s a 12v adapter USB, and right-facing right angled mini-USB plug. Why is that bad you ask? It’s because it forces the cable to point up and loop back down, whereas a left-facing plug would allow for the cable to hang freely with less tension.
* Watermarks video with «Transcend DP200 YYYY/MM/DD HH:MM:SS» No complaints about having the timestamp there, but I see no reason to have the model listed. Maybe there’s a way to turn it off.
* Shiny Silver bezel: There’s no reason why it needs that, other than to attract attention.
* Nearsighted camera: Because it’s got such a wide aperture (2.0 according to the packaging) to allow for nighttime recording, it really only brings things into focus when you’re about to pass things.
* Spastic White Balance: Doing a random sampling, you can see the camera try and figure out whether it’s sunny, cloudy, or stormy outside as it changes the hue of the recording.
So right now I’m giving it 4/5, due to it working as advertised, but the lack of a suction cup mount, the USB cable, and the white balance knocks off a star.
